    Wrinkle Injections: The Advantages
    Posted in Wrinkles

Looking good is a goal that everyone of us share.  This is the reason why cosmetic surgery is one of the most lucrative fields of medicine.  Wrinkle treatment comes in various forms—fat implants, collagen injection, Botox treatment, chemical peeling, laser, just to name a few.  For those who are after a medical approach to wrinkle removal but are not willing to undergo plastic surgery, wrinkle injections are a good choice.  The procedure involved is simple, results show within a short period of time and recovery only takes a few days.

These days Botox (botulinum toxin A) is probably the most popular type of wrinkle treatment.  The treatment involves the injection of small amounts of Botox into the muscles that holds up the wrinkled skin.  The Botox toxin works by preventing the production of the substance that controls muscle contraction.  It also relaxes the muscles which gives the skin a better appearance and almost completely eliminating wrinkles.  According to specialists, Botox works best in removing the wrinkles on the eye area and forehead.  The procedure lasts for only 30 minutes but the effects are visible from 4-6 months.  If you want immediate results, this may not be the best option as the skin takes about a week to recover and a month for the full effects to be visible.

Botox also has side-effects and these include fatigue, swelling, local inflammations and migraines.  Another popular wrinkle removing substance is collagen.  It is used in many face creams which is probably explains why many people are familiar with collagen and how it improves the quality of the skin.  Like Botox, collagen also comes in injectable form to get rid of wrinkles.

Collagen injections do not hurt at all.  In fact it is possible to have them without anesthesia.  After the treatment expect some swelling and itching as these are normal and will go away within 24 hours.  Those with sensitive skin normally experience the side-effects seven days after the procedure.  The results of collagen injections vary from one person to another but they often quickly disappear in those areas with expression wrinkles.  Like Botox and other wrinkle injections, the effects of collagen shots are not permanent because after some time, the collagen gets metabolized by the body.

Injecting the skin with a patient’s own fat is another wrinkle removing alternative.  The best thing about this type of wrinkle treatment is that the patient has a very low chance of developing an allergic reaction to the treatment.  In addition, the body easily absorbs the fat.  The downside however is that in some cases, the effects does not last very long.

Wrinkle injections have many advantages.  They are painless, affordable and the effects become visible within a short period of time.  The downside though is that the effects do not last for long and when they start to fade, you need to get more shots if you want your wrinkles “erased” anew.  Getting an injection to get rid of wrinkles is akin to going on a crash diet to lose weight fast but not permanently.  It is a good choice however it you want to instantly look younger for an upcoming event like a wedding or a class reunion but even then, you should still get your injection way at least a week before the affair to give yourself a few days to recover from the shot and its side-effects.
